Organic VS. Chemical Lawn Care

The type of lawn care products you use can truly make a difference in the appearance and health of your grass. To keep your grass in good shape, it’s important to use additive-free products.  Many companies claim their products are all natural, but they may still use synthetic materials in them. Once you understand the benefits of real organic lawn care, you won’t want to use anything else for your grass.

What’s the Difference Between Organic and Non-Organic Lawn Care?

Non-organic lawn care focuses on using fertilizer and other chemicals to make grass greener. While it’s successful at making the grass look more lush and beautiful, it can harm the environment in the process. The phosphorus and nitrogen in fertilizer can seep into river and other bodies of water and contaminate drinking water. These fertilizers also don’t do anything to strengthen the soil. They fail to replace trace elements that deplete over time, causing damage.

Organic lawn care, on the other hand, concentrates on the soil beneath the grass. Organic fertilizer utilizes the materials that come from plants, animals or minerals and provides important nutrients for the soil. If the soil is properly fed, healthy grass will grow. Natural lawn care won’t harm the air and water and reduces the amount of times you have to water and mow your grass.

Another advantage of organic is that it offers a relief for homeowners with pets or children. If you have little ones at home, you won’t have to worry about whether it’s safe or not for them to go outside after you have fertilized your lawn.
